SLC man killed in rollover near Wendover

WENDOVER — The Utah Highway Patrol has identified a Salt Lake City man who died in a rollover crash not far from the Nevada border.

Troopers tell The Salt Lake Tribune that 40-year-old Rick A. Gonzalez died after he was airlifted to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray.

Authorities say Gonzalez was thrown from his car in the crash about 8:30 a.m. Monday. Troopers say he’d been traveling east on Interstate 80, about 40 miles outside of Wendover.

Investigators say it appears Gonzalez had fallen asleep at the wheel.

Officials say a female passenger was in critical condition after the crash, while a male passenger was in serious condition.
