Utah volunteers to help storm victims

An Eden resident will be joining at least one other Red Cross volunteer from Northern Utah traveling today to White Plains, N.Y. to assist victims of super storm Sandy.

George Muller said he will be flying from Salt Lake City to Philadelphia and will then will drive to White Plains. Another Red Cross volunteer from Utah will also travel separately this afternoon to White Plains.

Muller said he will be working in the Red Cross’ public affairs division as local liaison with the media.

Muller has been a Red Cross volunteer since 2005 and has helped out with other disasters, including Hurricane Katrina. He served as a public affairs liaison for 41⁄2 months in Covington, La., following the hurricane.

“I enjoy helping out those who can use assistance in getting over disasters and getting back on their feet and getting them food, clothes and shelter,” he said. Muller is a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel.
