ROY — Lakeview Elementary School was evacuated for a short period of time Thursday morning after students and teachers at the school smelled gas.
Roy Police Chief Greg Whinham said the city fire department responded to the school around 9:30 a.m. and determined there was no gas or chemical leak of any kind at the school.
Students and teachers were soon let back into the school after fire officials completed their inspection.
Weber School District spokesman Nate Taggart said that, as a precaution, Roy High School students were told to stay inside until the incident was resolved.
The high school is to the immediate north of Lakeview Elementary.
