Dispatcher helps dad with baby delivery on I-15

OREM — A Utah baby made his debut in the world to the soundtrack of freeway traffic.

Arturo "R2" Pozo was born Saturday in a silver Dodge Caravan pulled over in Orem, thanks to a little help from a dispatcher.

Father Carlos Pozo tried to make it to the hospital a few miles away in American Fork, but decided to pull over when his wife’s cries grew louder.

Dispatcher Julie Benson is heard on a 911 recording directing the father to find a shoelace to tie off the umbilical cord, and reminding him to be careful with the slippery baby.

Carlos Pozo says EMTs arrived just as the baby’s head was coming out, and took over the delivery from there.

Before settling on Arturo, the couple considered naming their roadside delivery Miles.
