Volunteers sought to provide tax help

The “Community Action Partnership of Utah, the Earn it. Keep it. $ave it. Coalition” and AARP Tax-Aide are seeking community volunteers and host sites to provide free income tax help across the state.

Tax volunteers are given training in tax law and on the use of tax software for electronically filing tax returns.

Volunteers also help determine if a taxpayer is eligible for deductions, allowable expenses and credits.

In order to prepare tax returns, a volunteer must pass a competency test. If you don’t pass the tax test, you can still volunteer to provide initial forms and answer general questions.

For more information about being a community tax volunteer or hosting a free tax help site, send an e-mail to taxhelp@caputah.org or utahtaxsc@utahtax-aide.org.
