Highway to close briefly Wednesday

OGDEN — The Ogden Canyon Highway will close for at least four hours Wednesday as crews remove safety barriers that were recently knocked into the Ogden River.

The road will be closed from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. while this work proceeds.

UDOT spokesman Vic Saunders said that, during the work, properties in Ogden Canyon will still be accessible from either Ogden or Huntsville, but through traffic at the point of closure will not be possible because of large vehicles blocking the canyon highway.

Motorists who normally use Ogden Canyon as a travel route should plan ahead and consider alternate routes during this work. Alternates are State Road 167 and Interstate 84 for the upper canyon area and Pineview Reservoir.
