Two tripleheaders will generate a heavy dose of football playoff fervor on Thursday and Friday at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
Region 1 champion Syracuse and Region 5 champion Mountain Crest will carry the Top of Utah banner in the state 5-A and 4-A semifinals, respectively.
Undefeated Syracuse will kick off Thursday's tripleheader against Bingham at 11 a.m., followed by the battle between Region 3 champion Jordan and Region 4 champion Lone Peak at 2:30 p.m.
Spanish Fork and Desert Hills meet at 6:30 p.m. in the first 3-A semifinal.
Friday, Mountain Crest (10-2) will battle Highland out of Region 6 at 11 a.m. in the first 4-A semifinal, followed by the much anticipated matchup between Timpview and East at 2:30 p.m.
Juan Diego, the Region 10 champion, will take on Dixie in the 3-A nightcap at 6:30 p.m.
The Titans will rely on their stout defense to get the job done against the Miners. Syracuse starting QB Brock Anderson was injured in the second half of last Friday's quarterfinal victory over Alta, and won't suit up this week.
The Mustangs, meanwhile, use a multi-faceted offensive attack to overwhelm their opponents.
Two titles will be decided on Saturday at Pleasant Grove High, as unbeaten San Juan takes on Manti at 11 a.m. in the 2-A championship; followed up by the matchup between undefeated Duchesne and Rich at 2 p.m. in the 1-A championship.
Lone Peak (5-A), Manti (2-A) and Duchesne (1-A) are seeking state title repeats.
