Rita Hyland

Rita Prevedel Hyland of West Haven (Taylor) celebrated her 90th birthday at a family dinner with her immediate family on Nov. 3.

She was born Nov. 3, 1922, in Superior, Wyo., to Floriano and Angelina Prevedel. Later she moved and was raised in Kanesville (now West Haven) in 1929.

She attended Weber High School in Ogden. Her interests included bowling, cruises, dancing, traveling to Europe, ceramics, working in the yard and reading.

She was a homemaker, worked at Roy Junior High School and served The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Kanesville Ward for many years.

She is a member of the Catholic Church, Washington Terrace Senior Citizens Center, and has been a member of the Eagles Women’s Auxiliary for many years. She is active in the local Trenti Italians of Utah Club in Ogden.

She was married to Ross J. Hyland on June 28, 1947, in Ogden. He died on Oct. 24, 1988.

Her children and their spouses are Greg F. Hyland of Clinton, and Gary J. Hyland and Alauna Hyland of Orem. She has four grandchildren and one grandson.
