Nov 7 2012 - 12:03am

OGDEN -- Republican Matthew Bell held a strong lead over Democratic challenger Corey Combe for a vacant seat on the Weber County Commission.

At 11 p.m., with 79 of 159 precincts reporting, Bell had 31.259 votes and Combe had 19,048.

Bell, a lieutenant with the Weber County Sheriff's office, is a longtime chairman of the county's Republican Party.

Combe owns and operates a landscaping business.

During the campaign, both candidates agreed the county's economy and jobs are key concerns.

The seat is vacant because incumbent Commissioner Craig Dearden did not seek another term.
