Republican Bell leads Weber commission race

OGDEN — Republican Matthew Bell took a strong early lead over Democratic challenger Corey Combe for a vacant seat on the Weber County Commission.

At 9:15 p.m., with mail-in and early votes counted, Bell had 16,649 votes and Combe had 10,442.

Bell, a lieutenant with the Weber County Sheriff’s office, is a longtime chariman of the county’s Republican Party.

Combe owns and operates a landscaping business.

During the campaign, both candidates agreed the county’s economy and jobs are key concerns.

The seat is vacant because incumbent Commissioner Craig Dearden did not seek another term.
