Councilman gives nod to firemen

FARR WEST -- Councilman Tim Shupe said the fire district has been doing an excellent job on a small budget and deserve a pat on the back.

“It has been tough economic times the past four years with no raises for fire fighters and benefits costing more than ever,” said Shupe, “The budget keeps getting shaved but we maintain our equipment. We had one truck from 1989 that has been maintained and functions so well we have been able to meet our budget. They deserve a pat on the back, they are doing a terrific job. First and foremost is public safety and equipment that is operable. Budget-wise we are proud of the fire district for that.”
