FARR WEST -- The city is looking cleaner thanks to the efforts of inmates who have been cleaning along the freeway and by the recreation center, according to Councilman Lee Dickemore.
"There is a significant improvement, and they have cleaned around City Hall," said Dickemore, who also said the inmates would be finishing a project at the city shop that scouts had started.
Dickemore said one area that needs work is an opening in the sound barrier as well as the frontage road near Del Taco.
"That is a pig pen, truckers just throw their stuff out," said Dickemore.
Dickemore said the inmates are scheduled to do work throughout the winter and said the city will find work for them even if it is shoveling snow.
Dickemore also said the city is prepared for winter with salt on the city truck ready for the roads. He said all the weeds have been mowed down except an area in Farr West Farms and the city will be working on that.
