Security detail added to BCL&P

BOUNTIFUL -- The city council has approved the purchase of new security cameras to keep a constant eye on inventory at a warehouse for the Bountiful City Light & Power Company.

The council voted 4-0 at a recent meeting to purchase security cameras from Global Surveillance for $23,431. The utility has budgeted $30,000 for the item, according to Allen Johnson, director of BCL&P.

Johnson suggested the new surveillance equipment will help limit the vulnerability of the utility to theft of copper wire and aluminum. He said thiefs have broken into both the warehouse and yard and removed materials after hours.

Johnson noted the utility has almost $2 million in inventory in the warehouse and yard, which the cameras will help safeguard.
