'Centering prayer' retreat planned

OGDEN — The public is invited to a centering prayer retreat from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 17 at Congregational United Church of Christ, 3350 Harrison Blvd., behind and up the hill from the Key Realty office building.

The Rev. Michael Chittum, senior pastor at First Congregational Church in Salt Lake City, will lead the retreat.

Centering prayer is a method of silent prayer that prepares one to receive the gift of contemplative prayer, prayer in which one experiences God’s presence within.

This method of prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship, states a news release from the church.

The retreat is free, but registration by noon Thursday is required.

Call the church office at 801-392-5012 to register.

Lunch will be provided. More information is available at www.ogdenucc.org.
