OGDEN -- First Church of Christ Scientist, Ogden, is inviting the public to participate with its members Thanksgiving Day for a special service.
The 11 a.m. event at the church, at 24th Street and Monroe Boulevard, will feature a reading of this year's presidential proclamation naming Nov. 22 as Thanksgiving Day.
Also featured will be presentations of Scriptures from the Bible and readings from the church's worldwide text, Science and Health With Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.
Participants also will have a chance to express their own gratitude for blessings they have received.
Child care will be provided for children too young to participate.
The Thanksgiving event will be in honor of the blessings life in the United States has to offer, according to information provided by the church.
Participants also will learn about the laws of Christianity.
The laws are designed to provide those who live by them with God's harmony and an ability to weather life's storms as described by the Old Testament book of Genesis.
The First Church of Christ Scientist, Ogden, meets regularly at 11 a.m. Sundays and at 7 p.m. Wednesdays.
Wednesday night meetings offer opportunities for testimonials and sharing of gratitude and are planned by individual members.
