Parade, ceremony to honor veterans

OGDEN — The patriotic ceremony at Lindquist Field has been canceled because of the weather, but rain or shine, today’s Veterans Day parade will kick off at 11 a.m. on Washington Boulevard.

An estimated 80 units will form up at 31st Street, march north to 23rd Street and then west to Lindquist Field.

Instead of the usual patriotic ceremony at Lindquist Field, a much briefer one be held at VFW Post 1481, 907 W. 12th St., following the parade.

Any veteran from any period, war or peace, is invited to take part in the parade. Trailers are provided for any who need transportation along the parade route.

Also, the state of Utah will honor veterans at an event that begins at 11 a.m. Sunday in the Utah State Capitol Rotunda. Parking is available along the street surrounding the Capitol, in addition to the lot on the east side of the building.
