Two-vehicle crash closes overpass

CLEARFIELD — Three people were hurt in a two-vehicle crash in Clearfield about 5 p.m. Friday.

The accident occurred on the 300 North overpass, said Clearfield Officer Jeromy Jackson.

A Chevrolet Blazer was heading west on 300 North when the driver fell asleep after taking Ambien, crossed into the eastbound lane and struck an eastbound Honda Accord, Jackson said.

The 18-year-old male driver of the Blazer sustained a broken kneecap. He was taken by ambulance to Ogden Regional Medical Center.

A husband and wife in their 50s in the Honda were also injured. The man sustained a broken heel, and his wife received multiple bruises. They were taken by ambulance to McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden.

Charges against the driver of the Blazer are pending. The overpass was closed for about two hours.
