Ken Mickelson of Ogden celebrated his 90th birthday with a family dinner.
The first of two children, he was born on Nov. 16, 1922, to John and Edla Mickelson in Buhl, Minn.
He was educated in Minnesota. He married Barbara Peterson. They have been married 55 years.
Their three children and spouses are John and Wendy Mickelson, Jim and Kathy Mickelson, and Patricia and Justin Child. He has five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A veteran of World War II, he was discharged honorably. He is a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He retired from Hill Air Force Base. Employed in the field of entertainment, he was a projectionist at the Orpheum, Ogden, Paramount and Egyptian theaters, and with the Weber Motor Vu, Starlight and Mount Ogden Drive-ins. He traveled with Holiday on Ice. He later worked at the Omni Coliseum in Atlanta before returning to the Ogden area. He was a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees. He also worked with Ballet West.
He is an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Roy.
