Layton placed letter of law above spirit of law

Editor,

Layton city officials sat in council and citizens brought unto them a woman. They said unto them, "This woman was taken in adultery, in the very act," meaning she had more than the allowed number of dogs on her property (Nov. 9 news article, "Single mom moves dogs after conflict with Layton council").

"What sayest thou?" The council replied very indignantly, "We can not allow exceptions!" Let’s draw lots for who shall cast the first stone." And so it was.

Shame on Layton city for placing the letter of the law above the spirit of the law.
