Thomas S. Jensen of Pleasant View celebrated his 80th birthday at a family gathering on Nov. 9.
He was born on Nov. 9, 1932, to Thomas H. and Minnie Struve Jensen at his family’s home in Clarkston.
He grew up in Clarkston, moving to Brigham City in his senior year and graduated from Box Elder High School. He later attended Weber College.
In 1952, he joined the Air Force, where he served four years. Upon his return, he met Donna Baker on a blind date. They were married Nov. 30, 1956. Their vows were solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ogden Temple on Nov. 30, 1974.
He worked for Swift & Co. for about 12 years, then owned and operated his own construction business for more than 30 years. He also worked at the Internal Revenue Service for six years before retiring.
He has held several callings in the LDS Church, including first and second counselor. His interests include spending time with family, oil painting, gardening, fishing and just being in the outdoors.
Their children and spouses are Janet and Wade Kotter, Karen and Bret Kendell, John and Jodi Jensen, and David Jensen and his wife Chris Fischer.
They have 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
