William Don and Julia Nelson of Ogden celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with a family dinner.
They were married on Oct. 30, 1947, in Logan. Their vows were solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple on Feb. 14, 1962. He was schooled in Cache County and served under Gen. George S. Patton Jr. during World War II. Upon returning home, he furthered his education at Utah State University, majoring in electronics engineering. He worked as a plasterer for many years and also for the federal government until his retirement. He enjoyed all sports, fishing and hunting. He served in many callings in the church, including bishop of the South Ogden 65th Ward. He is currently an active member of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers.
She is an avid reader and enjoys conversation. She enjoyed making her home a safe haven for her children and their friends with hot bread, warm cookies and cold milk. She has also served in many church callings, including Primary teacher, Primary presidency and her favorite — visiting teacher supervisor.
The couple also spent several years as temple workers in the Ogden LDS Temple.
Their children and spouses are Judy Lynn Nelson (deceased), Larry and Nanette Nelson, Susan and Gailen Lundell, Ronald and June Nelson, and Kevin and Deb Nelson.
They have 17 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
