Editor, Kudos to the writer of the Nov. 8 letter, "Countries receiving our aid don’t reciprocate." It is rather unfortunate that the world hates the U.S. so much that they can’t find it in their hearts to help out those in need here, yet they have their hands out and happily accept our aid to them when they are in dire need. We have so many hungry, homeless people living in shelters and cardboard boxes, yet no one seems to care. They must believe we have money trees in our backyards. Very sad indeed. It just goes to show that this United States is not the terrible country that much of the world portrays us to be. Karen Lish Layton
