Editor,
I have read lots of letters to the editor, and most are pretty entertaining. Yet, there are letters from people complaining incessantly about President Obama. They write about how our country is going the way of Greeece, small businss leaders are going by the wayside, and we are on the path of destruction.
I felt compelled to write and give my say. It’s an absolute insult to insist that everybody who voted for Obama has a hand out, waiting for something from the government. It’s also insulting that when you mention women, Latinos, African Americans, and the younger generation, to GOP supporters, they come up with free birth control and abortion, immigration, welfare and homosexuality.
I know women who are opposed to abortion, Latinos who are natural citizens, African Americans who have great jobs, and younger people who are not homosexuals, all who voted for Obama.
The GOP is looking for answers as to why they lost. All they come up with are token answers. They act like Obama supporters have zero morals and get welfare checks and are not very patriotic. Well, the guy writing this letter is a Latino who served proudly in the military, has never taken welfare, believes in God, attends church regularly and treats every person with respect regardless of sex, race, religion or sexual orientation.
It bothers me deeply when all we hear are negative words about those who support Obama and his political vision. On election day I talked with friends who supported Romney, and also friends who supported Obama. We all concluded that no matter who won, people need to support our elected leader.
It’s been barely a week and already people are whining and complaining. What makes our country great is we are free to vote as we please, but no matter how it turns out, we realize we need to band together and make our country even better. Instead, all we see on the news is how divided we are. I hope that maybe one day, we as a nation can truly be "One nation under God."
