CLEARFIELD -- A 22-year-old Roy man was pronounced dead at the scene after his motorcycle crashed into a Honda sport utility vehicle.
Clearfield Police Lt. Adam Malan said witnesses reported that the man had turned east onto 700 South, also known as State Highway 193, from the southbound off-ramp when he collided with the Honda SUV at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
"They said he may have been traveling at a high rate of speed and was changing lanes," Malan said.
The driver of the Honda, a 33-year-old woman from Pleasant View, was making a left turn out of the Chevron station at 1350 E. 700 South to go west.
A small child was also inside the Honda. The child and the woman were both treated for minor injuries at the scene and released. The air bags in the vehicle deployed.
Bystanders performed CPR on the man until emergency medical personnel arrived, Malan said. The man was wearing a helmet.
Officers closed 700 South from about 1000 East to 1500 East for about two hours while they investigated the accident.
All traffic was diverted either back onto Interstate 15 or onto State Street in Clearfield.
Malan said it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were involved in the accident.
Officers are not releasing the names of the drivers pending notification of the man's family.
