The holidays can be a lonely time of the year for some.

The Weber County Library staff has a tradition aimed at reaching out to those who might otherwise spend the season alone or without cause to celebrate.

A holiday open house is planned from noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 24 at the main library, 2464 Jefferson Ave., Ogden.

Dinner will be served from noon to 3 p.m. Refreshments will follow.

Live music, a story time and a film screening will be hosted, and socks and gloves will be handed out to those in need.

Donations of socks and gloves can be brought to any Weber County Library location.

Anyone who would like to volunteer or wants more information is asked to call 801-337-2690.
