PLEASANT VIEW -- An 11-year-old girl who was critically injured in an accident at her Pleasant View home Saturday has died Monday evening.
The family of Nichole Gail Clark released the news of her death Monday via email from Chris Dallin, spokesman for McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden.
Brandi Babbitt, a family spokeswoman and cousin of the girl, said early Monday that medical tests came back showing no brain activity for Nikki, as the girl was known. She had been impaled with a rod from a window blinds set on Saturday and was rushed to McKay-Dee Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.
"Her parents are not doing well at all," Babbitt said Monday morning.
Sources close to the family reported on Facebook that Nikki died around 7 p.m.
Babbitt said Nikki was outside her home at 2491 N. U.S. 89 in Pleasant View, playing with a dog and a broken rod from window blinds. She fell going up the stairs into her home. The rod went into her chest and through her neck.
Nikki went inside the home and instinctively pulled the rod out, not realizing that would cause further damage. Her parents, who were both home, immediately called 911, Babbitt said.
An account to help the young girl's family with medical bills has been set up at US Bank in the name of Nichole Clark.
Nikki is the youngest daughter of Kevin and Kristie Clark, of Pleasant View.
"Nikki is a loving, caring, giving person," Babbitt said. "She loved playing in the water and loved playing with her dogs."
