Editor,
OK, I’m a Republican who voted for Barack Obama. After reading all the tripe and mindless drivel coming from the Obama-haters, It’s my turn.
First:, For anybody Utah Republican to say that they didn’t have a voice in selecting our president is laughable beyond the absurd.
Second: Do your own research into economics, world politics, and the party platforms. Then, use your own power of critical thinking to form your own opinion. I hear so many people parroting, almost verbatim, the hate-mongers on talk radio.
After you have done that, then I will respect your political opinion regardless of your conclusions.
However, I think you will come to realize that we dodged a bullet by not electing the Republican challenger. Just you stand by and watch. The economy will finally recover, business will prosper, and people will, again, find meaningful jobs. If you do your homework, you will see this would have happened regardless of who’s president.
Third: And speaking of bullets, we will not see any serious legislation to further infringe on the Second Amendment. In the current political climate, the Democrats have no stomach for sweeping gun control legislation. We gun rights advocates are a force to be reckoned, and they know it.
Fourth: Social conservatives have been bleating about socialism since the proposal of the 1935 Social Security Act. Medicare was another hot-button item in the 1960’s. Those who think that they were bad ideas should stop accepting benefits from both programs immediately. You can then begin supporting your parents and grandparents.
I needn’t enumerate the asinine remarks and assertions made by those who simply have not examined the facts before putting finger to keyboard.
