PROVO -- Provo police say nobody is injured after a man exchanged gunfire with officers serving a drug-related warrant.
Authorities say 20-year-old Alex Opmanis has been booked into the Utah County Jail and may face an attempted homicide charge.
Police say they were helping the Utah County Sheriff's Office serve a no-knock search warrant at a duplex about 6:30 p.m. Monday when someone inside fired shots through the front door. Officials say Utah County deputies returned fire.
Provo Police Detective Brian Taylor says officers had been identifying themselves as police, and Opmanis surrendered shortly after the exchange. Taylor says it's unclear at what point Opmanis heard police identifying themselves.
The incident is under investigation.
