OGDEN — Utah Foster Care’s Giving Tree Program needs new gifts and cash donations to fulfill the holiday wishes of children in foster care.
The foundation is trying to provide at least 1,000 gifts for Utah children in state-licensed foster homes in Northern Utah.
“Many of the children and teens in care have been removed from their biological homes because of neglect or abuse,” said Nikki MacKay, director of Foster/Adoptive Family Retention for UFC. “Christmas can be a difficult time for them. I encourage office workers, church groups and others to call us and get a list of ‘wishes’ from these children. Families could even make it their special holiday project.”
Teenagers and children in foster care have made specific gift requests. Those wanting to help should email McKenzie Palmer by Dec. 8 at mckenzie.palmer@utahfostercare.org or call 801-392-1114.
