Stalking injunction upheld against governor’s son

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Court of Appeals has upheld a stalking injunction filed by a woman against Gov. Gary Herbert’s son.

The court held that the Orem woman, Aiona Butters, has good reason to fear 41-year-old Nathan Herbert.

The governor’s son challenged the injunction at a 4th District Court hearing and appealed when he lost.

The Utah appeals court says the stalking goes back to 2004 when Herbert was dating Butter’s sister.

Both sisters eventually obtained stalking injunctions until 2009.

A month later, Aiona Butters said Nathan Herbert was bothering her again, at a local gym.

The Utah Court of Appeals ordered Herbert on Friday to pay the woman’s legal expenses.
