SALT LAKE CITY -- The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources has a new director.
Greg Sheehan, of Layton, replaces Jim Karpowitz, who retired Saturday after leading the agency since 2005.
Sheehan, who has been DWR's administrative services chief since 2002, was selected after a nationwide search.
Utah Department of Natural Resources Executive Director Mike Styler praises him, saying Sheehan will bring a business background to the position.
As DWR's administrative services chief, Sheehan managed a staff of 55, oversaw a $72 million annual budget and directed all of the agency's license sales.
Sheehan says he grew up in Utah, and enjoys hunting, fishing, wildlife viewing and photography.
He says he's committed to working with others to "create more wildlife opportunity in Utah."
Sheehan is married and has two children.
