DEQ issues no burn, no drive request

The Utah Department of Environmental Quality has issued a “voluntary action condition” for Salt Lake, Davis and Weber counties for today.

Residents of these counties should voluntarily not use their wood and coal-burning stoves and fireplaces. Industry should optimize operations to minimize air pollution emissions. Vehicle use should be reduced by consolidating trips and using mass transit.

An “unrestricted action condition” is issued for Box Elder County and Cache Valley. The unrestricted condition means that wood and coal-burning stoves and fireplaces may be used, but use them in a proper manner to reduce air pollution emissions.
