FARMINGTON -- A man accused of stabbing his 13-year-old cousin entered a not-guilty plea in court Tuesday.
Mitchell Dean Howe, 23, of West Bountiful, appeared in 2nd District Court on Tuesday before Judge Glen C. Dawson. He is charged with one count of first-degree felony attempted murder. He has been held in Davis County Jail without bail since his arrest June 27.
Another hearing is set for Feb. 5.
Howe is accused of stabbing his sleeping cousin with an 8-inch kitchen knife June 27, according to court documents.
The boy was visiting the Howe home to attend a family reunion, according to the probable cause affidavit.
Howe woke up his parents, who told him to stay in a bathroom until police arrived.
The 13-year-old was taken to a Salt Lake City hospital, where he was treated for his injury.
