OGDEN – The Ogden Mustangs Junior A hockey team has announced its annual Toys for Tots toy drive, set for Friday and Saturday at The Ice Sheet.
Fans are encouraged to bring new toys to donate to Toys for Tots both games. Fans will receive one free admission per donated toy. All fans are also encouraged to bring stuffed animals Saturday, to toss on the ice after the first Mustangs goal. All toys and stuffed animals will be donated to Toys for Tots Ogden chapter.
The Mustangs (11-7-1-3) will be taking on in-state rivals, the Salt Lake City Moose (4-7-0-1) both nights. The Mustangs currently sit in second place in the Northwest Division of the Western States Hockey League while the Moose are in fifth. Both teams will be looking to advance their position in the standings with a few wins before the Christmas break.
“The Moose are an improved team this year.” said Mustangs coach Jake Laime. “The rivalry just adds to the intensity of the games, both teams want bragging rights over the other.”
It has been the Mustangs who have held those bragging rights the past season and a half, posting a 8-1-0-1 record against the Moose.
“The Moose will fight hard, they always do,” said Laime “But we will be ready for them.”
The puck is set to drop at Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Weber County Ice Sheet. For ticket information, visit OgdenMustangs.com or call the box office at 661-431-3710.
