WEST VALLEY CITY -- West Valley City police say they've arrested three people in what appears to be a planned shooting of a 16-year-old boy.

Police say they found the teen about 1 p.m. Wednesday with gunshot wounds to the abdomen and legs. Authorities say he was taken to the hospital, where he remained in serious but stable condition Thursday morning.

Detectives say they believe the three suspects arranged to meet up with the boy to rob him of drugs.

Police say the robbery happened inside a vehicle and turned into a shooting. Officials say one of the suspects pulled the injured teen out of the car, and the vehicle drove away.

Police have arrested 28-year-old Brandon Carl Montoya, 22-year-old Robert Salvador Apodaca, and 19-year-old Gilbert Vigil on suspicion of charges including attempted homicide.
