SALT LAKE CITY -- A law enforcement task force investigating an alleged human trafficking and prostitution ring in Utah has arrested three men and taken 10 girls and young women in custody.
The Utah Attorney General's spokesman Paul Murphy tells the Salt Lake Tribune most of the women and girls appear to be in the country illegally, and some are as young as 14.
Murphy says the arrests came Thursday during raids on four Salt Lake-area massage parlors and a private residence. Murphy says agents focused on "reiki" massage parlors where the girls were allegedly forced to perform sex acts.
The three men arrested are 42-year-old Manuel Zapata-Sanchez, 29-year-old Luis Daniel Arano-Hernandez, and 24-year-old David Ramirez-Jiminez. All were being held without bail on federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold orders.
