Ruth and Ellis Butler

Harrisville couple shares 70 years

Ellis and Ruth Butler celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Nov. 25.

They were married in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple on Nov. 25, 1942.

For most of their married lives, they resided in Nampa, Idaho, where they raised their family of six children, and he worked for the Idaho Power Co.

They have been devoted sweethearts, and one was hardly seen without the other. Throughout the years, their voices blended as they sang duets together at many functions.

Active members of the LDS Church, they have served two missions together.

They moved to Harrisville about 17 years ago to be close to their family, which has expanded to more than 80 grandchildren and more than 90 great-grandchildren.
