USU player collapses in practice; game vs. BYU postponed

SALT LAKE CITY — A Utah State basketball player collapsed at practice and stopped breathing this afternoon.

The Associated Press reports that emergency responders had to use a defibrillator to get Danny Berger breathing again.

University spokesman Tim Vitale says Berger was transported to a hospital in Logan before being flown to Intermountain Medical Center in the Salt Lake City area.

Berger is a junior from Medford, Ore. He is a starting forward for the Utah State Aggies. He averages 7.6 points per game and 3.6 rebounds.

Due to the incident, Utah State’s Wednesday night game against BYU has been postponed, according to several media outlets

As of Tuesday night, Neither BYU or Utah State have released a statement regarding the status of Wednesday's scheduled game.
