SALT LAKE CITY -- Authorities have made an arrest in the theft of a 300-pound statue from Salt Lake City's Davis Park.
Detective Dennis McGowan says the man was implicated in an alcohol-related theft of "Skating to Fly" -- a 4-foot-tall replica of a quail on roller skates.
The $20,000 statue was recovered about a block from Davis Park in a yard. The homeowner told police a party-goer dropped the statue off Friday night.
City officials say they're thrilled the statue was recovered and say it wasn't badly damaged.
Meanwhile, Sandy police have put out an alert to metal recyclers for 10 life-size bronze statues stolen from an outdoor Sandy art gallery Thanksgiving weekend.
Police say many thieves are taking metal for scrap value.
