Meals on Wheels always a worthwhile charity

Editor,

At this time of year, there are a host of charities that ask for and need financial help. God bless those who respond to the requests.

A program that always could use assistance, but is very seldom heard about, is the Meals on Wheels program. The aged, or invalids are sometimes forgotten but for the beneficiaries of this program, it is is a God-send.

Some branch of our government, state or county, is in charge of this program. With the expenses of government so overwhelming because of giveaways and perks for overpaid officials, and with the costs of defending confessed-killers and criminals because of appeals, the funds left to assist former workers and taxpayers is sometimes minimal.

When I was employed, I found that during the United Fund Drive, we could write in a charity organization for our donations and our requests would be honored. I started writing down, "Meals on Wheels," and hopefully it helped.

It’s not just a Christmas thing. It’s a year-round necessity that is a blessing for people.

I wish a Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.
