Satya to host 2012 celebration of sustainability

OGDEN — Satya, a center for conscious living and spiritual enrichment, is inviting the community to join in “a worldwide celebration of the planet’s first symbolic Birth Day,” on Dec. 22.

According to a Satya news release, a coalition of numerous groups led by bestselling author Barbara Marx Hubbard and The Shift Network has designated Dec. 22 this year as “Day One” for inaugurating a sustainable global civilization.

For more information about this initiative, which is called the Birth 2012 movement, visit the website, birth2012.com.

Satya has created a group called a “hub” that will host a Birth 2012 event to celebrate this “declaration of the beginning of a new human era.”

In so doing, the release states, “we will join luminaries around the world like Barbara Marx Hubbard, Rev. Michael Bernard Beckwith, Ervin Laszlo, Lynne Twist, Jean Houston, Dot Maver, Neil Donald Walsch, Ashoke Gangadean, Oscar Miro-Quesada, Rinaldo Brutoco, James O’Dea, Lynne McTaggart, Jack Canfield, and more.”

The main event takes place in Los Angeles on Dec. 22 with a major webcast the local group will watch together in the “hub” at the Satya Center.

The schedule is:

  • Noon to 4:30 p.m., The Birth 2012 event with Barbara Marx Hubbard and The Shift Network live streaming from Los Angeles.
  • 5 p.m., meditation and energy balancing
  • 6 p.m., candle lighting and blessing of the hands ceremony.
  • 7 p.m., community meal – invite your friends and bring a dish to share.

There will also be an exhibit of local arts and crafts throughout the evening.

Satya is at 795 24th St. in Ogden.
