SALT LAKE CITY -- The annual National Wreaths Across America ceremony to honor veterans will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the State Capitol Rotunda.
Similar ceremonies will take place in all 50 states and 24 national cemeteries at overseas locations.
Gov. Gary Herbert and Utah veterans will take part. Following the Rotunda program, a ceremonial wreath will be placed at the Utah Vietnam Memorial.
The public is invited to attend.
"It is a time to remember each veteran and honor those families who have an empty chair at the holiday table due to military service of a loved one," said Dennis Howland, VFW state public affairs officer.
Wreaths Across America was founded to continue and expand the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.
During December, more than 400,000 wreaths will be placed nationwide by more than 150,000 volunteers.
