Ann Frances “Debbie” Ross of Roy celebrated her 95th birthday at a family party on Nov. 27 at Legacy Village of Layton, where she currently resides.
She was born Nov. 27, 1917, in New York City to Howard C. and Ann McEwen Spracher. She attended schools in New York and Ogden. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1936.
She married the love of her life, John F. Ross Jr., a Utah highway patrolman, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ogden on Nov. 3, 1942. They settled in Ogden, then moved to Roy. He died in 1981. Before his death, they enjoyed traveling together.
She is an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was employed by the procurement department at the Ogden Arsenal and Defense Depot Ogden. She also worked at Auerbach’s and Castleton’s department stores in Ogden.
She is a past president and active member of the Benevolent Patriotic Order of Does Drove No. 27, the Ladies of Elks, a member of Roy Senior Citizens, Roy Heritage Museum, American Business Women’s Association, Newcomers, Red Hatters and Cosmopolitan clubs. She enjoys participating in charitable organizations and has made many friends throughout the years.
Her children and their spouses are Howard J. Ross, Patricia Burback, and Lance and Mary Ross Hurlburt. Her grandchildren are Matt and Elisha Hurlburt, and Deborah Burback.
