Curtis Bybee

Curtis Charles Bybee of Washington Terrace will celebrate his 80th birthday with friends and family on Monday, Dec. 10.

He was born and raised in Uintah on Dec. 10, 1932. He enjoyed spending his summers helping his Grandpa on his farm in Plain City. At age 18, he enlisted in the Navy to serve in the Korean War. He was stationed at Moffet Field Naval Air Station in Mountain View, Calif. While serving his country, he met Jesse Remone. They were married in 1951. They lived in San Jose, Calif., and had four boys: Randy Bybee, Daniel Bybee, Dennis Bybee and Russell Bybee. After his service, he spent the majority of his work life with R.C. Benson Construction as a master carpenter and foreman, retiring as a superintendant. After the death of his wife, he later met Reita Mae Garner, who had four daughters and a son: Teri Ewing, Penny Stark, Kristi Perkins, Jodi Moore and Tracy J. Dean Hansen.

He and Reita Mae were married in 1985, and the two families merged into one. After their marriage, they resided in San Jose, Calif.; and Sunset, settling in Washington Terrace. Reita Mae died on Dec. 25, 2011.

He is an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoys golfing whenever he gets the chance, reading and being a grandpa and great-grandpa.
