Duane Christensen of Harrisville celebrated his 80th birthday with his family at the Golden Coral on Dec. 1. There were 14 members in attendance.

He was born in Scotia, Neb., in a farmhouse on Dec. 2, 1932. His parents were Rudolph and Anna Marie Christensen. The family moved to Wyoming when he was in the second grade. He graduated from Lusk High School and served in the Army for two years during the Korean War. At that time, he married his wife Susan Jewett.

After returning to Wyoming, he worked for one year in the oil fields, and attended Casper College and the University of Wyoming. He taught high school mathematics for eight years and worked for a natural gas company for 26 years.

He and his wife moved to Harrisville in January 2006, where he enjoys playing cards at the North View Senior Center and going to Wendover once a week.

His children and their spouses are Robert and Helene Christensen, William and Caryl Christensen, Michael and Deanna Christensen, and David and Lori Christensen.

He has nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
