Accused shoplifters caught — in traffic

CENTERVILLE — Heavy traffic on Parrish Lane stopped two would-be shoplifters from getting out of Centerville, police said.

Angela Love, 42, and Michael J. Yagues, 40, were both booked in Davis County Jail on multiple charges including retail theft and possession of meth.

Centerville Assistant Police Chief Paul Child said Walmart security called police after watching the couple leave the store with a shopping cart filled with items, including a 39-inch TV and a comforter Thursday.

The couple got into a car and left the parking lot at the same time a police car drove into the parking lot.

“They just got caught up in the traffic and couldn’t get out of town,” Child said. The couple told police they had been living in a shelter in Salt Lake City.
