LAYTON — A 22-year-old man who thought he could hide from police is now facing charges for distributing spice.
Joshua Richard Shawd, of Layton, was booked in Davis County Jail on three warrants and one count of second-degree felony possession of spice with the intent to distribute. He is being held on $50,000 cash-only bail.
Layton officers had gone to an apartment complex at 1725 N. 1450 West on Saturday to find Shawd, said Police Lt. Garret Atkin.
Officers could smell marijuana coming from the apartment and secured the area. They talked to two women who lived in the apartment and found Shawd and spice inside it.
The Davis County Attorney’s Office is reviewing the current case before filing formal charges. Shawd has two felony warrants and one misdemeanor warrant out of 2nd District Court for failing to complete his probation. He has a court hearing set for Monday before Judge Michael G. Allphin.
