Editor, Today I was driving from Layton to Brigham City and noticed how trashy the freeway is from Layton to Roy. We might think we were in a poverty country while driving the freeway with the amount of trash there in the center and then on both sides of the road. Layton has beautiful on and off ramps, but then we hit the trash once on the freeway. The freeways heading south now have the center with concrete and concrete barriers and we see street sweepers out there cleaning them up, but not through North Davis County. Who is responsible for cleaning up this trash? It is time to clean up the mess, luckily snow is coming so it will get covered up but when it melts the mess will be back. I have lived in other states and they used county prisoners, or if people get a ticket or into trouble and couldn’t pay the fine, they had freeway trash duty on weekends to work it off. Farmington uses prisoners to mow the grass at the county buildings. Time to use them on the freeways, maybe. Tony Bencina Layton
