As 2012 draws to a close, it's essential to thank Ogden city, mayor, mike caldwell, golf division manager, Todd Brenkman, superintendent, Jeff McFarland and golf professional, Jon Fister, Jr., for the astounding year we experienced at Mt. Ogden course, our town's greatest natural asset.
With the support of the mayor and public services director, Jay Lowder, the city funded and implemented improvements to the course. This committment, along with solid promotion and the installation of a pavilion with R.A.M.P funds, and many other factors, resulted in the course having one of the best revenue years on record.
Instead of publicly tearing Mt. Ogden down at every opportunity and threatening to sell our assets at pennies on the dollar to fund nonsensical, ego-driven schemes, the city chose to support the course and the positive returns are undeniable.
This is quite a refreshing contrast and I believe Mayor Caldwell deserves a lot of the credit, as do the many community members who fought furiously to protect Ogden's crown jewel, such as the late Bill Critchlow and his many lifelong friends too numerous to mention.
I look forward to spending as much time and money as possible at Mt. Ogden Golf Course in 2013.
