OGDEN -- Formal charges of attempted murder, assault and domestic violence in the presence of a child were filed Monday against a Roy man for his alleged attack on his wife and child.
Christopher Locke, 41, shot his wife in the torso several times with a handgun, police said, and hit his daughter with a bottle, events reported around 10:25 p.m. Saturday. He was also charged with carrying a dangerous weapon while under the influence of alcohol. The wife, later hospitalized, and daughter were able to flee to the home of a neighbor, who called police. As police arrived, Locke let his 5-year-old son leave the home in the 3700 West block of 4750 South.
A standoff ensued, including SWAT officers, until Locke surrendered about two hours later, setting aside an assault rifle, police said. He was to be arraigned this morning in 2nd District Court, held without bail in Weber County Jail as of Monday night.
